Well, usually galileo is given the credit for making the telescope,but that is not actually the case. The inventor of telescope was hans lippershey.

Lippershey isn't necessarily the inventor, he was the one who is credited with the invention, because he made it popular. Telescope was probably invented by a man who made lenses, and was curious what would happen if you placed them one in front of the other and when he saw how they magnified, he may have used it to watch people or stars. Who knows.
