'Notting Hill', the lighthearted romance-comedy starring British actor Hugh Grant and the ever popular Julia Roberts, was released in 1999. 'Notting Hill' tells the story of Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), one of the worlds' most famous stars, falling for William Thacker (Hugh Grant), a quiet travel bookshop owner. Scott first meets Thacker when Scott enters his bookshop looking to buy a travel book. They later run into each other again and Thacker spills his orange juice all over Scott. They become fast friends and their feelings for each other quickly grow but, with an obnoxious, American boyfriend and the tabloids following Scotts' every move, the two face a number of love hurdles. 'Notting Hill' received a 6.9 out of 10 from movie goers and was nominated for three Golden Globes. In 1999 'Notting Hill' won the British Comedy Award and in 2000 Hugh Grant was awarded the Golden Slate award for best actor in a leading role, an award he shared with Keanu Reeves for 'The Matrix.'
