I Have A Year Old Female Chihuahua/Pug Dog I Got At The Rescue Center. Wanted A Short Haired Dog For Indoor Companion. But She Sheds Terribly And I Cannot Keep Her In Living Area. HELP!!! Any Advice?

We're Sr. Citizens & wanted a house dog. Got the Chihuahua'/Pug at Rescue Center, spayed her & gave excellent care. But she sheds too bad to keep in our living area. Is there anything I can do to stop this shedding? We'd like her to be free to roam the house with us. Also the Grandchildren are covered with "Hunny" hair after playing with her. Somebody please help us.

Do you give her a daily brushing?  I've heard that this helps a little with shedding.

Daily brushing to remove hair will definitely help.  If your dog has a thick undercoat a brush or comb designed to strip the hair will help.  Bathing can also help remove loose and excess hair.  Bathing frequency should not exceed once a week unless allergies are a problem and require bathing several times a week.
Make sure you are feeding a high quality adult maintenance food.  Nutrition can play a role in coat health.  Some brands make a skin care diet and this may help your dog.
Supplementing fatty acids can also help decrease shedding.  The dose of human fish oil capsules (1000-1200mg) is 1 capsule per 25-30 pounds of body weight.  Your veterinarian will have a supplement that is appropriate for dogs.
Have your dog examined by a veterinarian to make sure there are no underlying skin conditions causing the shedding.
