Why Wont My Red Production Hen Lay She Had One Soft Shelled Egg Yesterday But Nothing Today?

It depends on how old she is. Some breeds start laying as young as 4 to 5 months old while others need to be around 9 months old. If she is laying soft shells it is because she has a lack of calcium that is needed for a stiff shell. You can purchase oyster shell at a local feed store, grind it and add it to her food once a week.
