The Bronte sisters lived and wrote their great works of literature in the West Yorkshire region of England. The area where they lived and which provided the inspiration for their works is known as the Bronte Country.

This area is believed to be to the west of Leeds and Bradford in the Hills of the Pennines. The area also encompasses the old home of the Bronte sisters, namely the village of Haworth. The village now has the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

The three Bronte sisters were Anne, Emily and Charlotte and their works included Agnes Grey, Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights respectively. All three sisters died very young succumbing to various ailments. Their works were inspired in much part to the rugged beauty of the harrowing and desolate scenery that surrounded them.
