What Is A Simple Subject?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

A simple subject is the principal word or words in the subject. When a subject is a group of words then it is called a complete subject. The simple subject is what remain when you remove all the adjectives and prepostional  phrases from the complete subject. For example, the lion roars in the circus. The lion is a simple subject. Or the cowardly lion roars in the circus. Take away cowardly and you still have lion as a simple subject. You can always fnd the simple subject by remembering that it can never be within a prepostional phrase and by asking who? Or what? Before the verb. Hope this helps.
