Remember! mental process deals with mind not with the brain, brain is tangible and material thing but the mind is intangible and not material thing. Mental process consists of the characteristics of mind as:
Mind is Unity:
Mind does not work as a number of separate process or faculties, such as memory, imagination, and thought. It is one and the same mind, which manifests itself in remembering, imagining and thinking. We may analyse its process for purpose of study, but mind itself remains one.
Mind is immaterial:
Mind is not made of flesh or other matter like brain, which doctors can see and touch; although connected with brain mind is not something we can ever perceive with our senses.
Mind is active:
Mind is not a clean sheet on which out side stimuli leave impression on the other hand; it is engaged in constant activity. Mind does not consist of thing, which are less permanent, but of process, that is happenings or changes.
Mind is continuous:
There is a constant flow of mental processes one after the other, so that mind has been compared to a continuously flowing stream.
Mind is private:
A doctor can observe my breathing or the circulation of blood but no one ca observes thoughts or the wishes directly.

The mental process is another way of explaining or defining thought. So the process of taking in information, processing it and formulating a response or opinion can be defined as the mental process.
Mental, in terms of the human body, generally describes everything that the brain, which is our command centre, does.
So we take in an image with our eyes, a sound or sounds with our ears, a taste with our mouth and tongue, or a smell with our nose, and then this information is relayed to the brain and recognised or not, and then a thought process takes place.
When someone is mentally disturbed, under severe stress or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, their mental process is said to be impaired.
What this means is that the conclusions they arrive at, or the actions that follow the stimuli are not logical, or defined as normal responses.
