How Many Calories Does Golfing Burn?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It will depend on your weight as well as the type of golf played and whether or not you use a golf cart. For example, someone who plays regular golf who weighs approximately 155lbs and using no golf carts will burn around 281 calories. Whereas, one who weighs the same and uses a cart will burn approximately 246 calories.
Pulling golf clubs along can increase the amount of calories burned. Again, weighing the same amount, one can burn up to 352 calories.
You would actually get more of a work out if you play regular golf, not use a cart and carry the golf clubs as oppose to pulling them- about 387 calories one can burn being the same weight.

"someone who plays regular golf who weighs approximately 155lbs and using no golf carts will burn around 281 calories. Whereas, one who weighs the same and uses a cart will burn approximately 246 calories" -- should I imply form this statement, that walking the golf course (approx 3.5 - 4 miles) only results in the burning of an extra 35 calories? Please explain your logic a little, as walking one mile > 35 calories burned.

In saying so, the numbers are approximate. And there isn't constant walking as in the intent to exercise. You are walking from hole to hole which will not burn that much more calories.
It would be completely different if walking straight across the course briskly with the intent to loose weight; more calories would be burned.
