This dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian and have x-rays taken. This will help assess if this is a reducible or non-reducible dislocation. The x-rays ill help assess how damaged the joint and femoral head are. There are numerous surgical corrections for dislocated hips. If this is a reducible dislocation a closed reduction may be tried. Under anesthesia the hip will be placed back in the socket then a sling will be applied. This is commonly unsuccessful and surgery is often required. Especially since this is a chronic injury (present for several months) I suspect surgery will be needed.
