I found a small snake in northeast Florida grey with grey stripes all the way down its length. It was found under a plastic cover in water. When I moved the cover it ran away from me.

The type of snake your have is known as corn snake and they are found in variety of colors. This corn snake is also known as red rat snake because it has reddish coloring but still is some controversy over the origin of corn snakes. These snakes are usually found in hilly areas in agricultural area and in the southeastern part of United State as well.They are found in different colours such as red ,grey and yellow even sometimes.These snakes have strips from neck to all the way of its body.
