Some people wrongly pronounce MRSA as mercer. There is no germ like mercer. It is MRSA which is abbreviation of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus which is actually staph bacteria. The MRSA are resistant to many antibiotics and difficult to treat. These bacteria are present everywhere in the environment. These are also present on the skin and nasal passage of almost every person without any harm. These bacteria are opportunistic and cause infection whenever skin has a cut, burn or wound. These bacteria are acquired from the hospitals and community by direct contact with the affected person and contaminated objects. MRSA can be treated by first draining the wound and then using antibiotic shots like vancomycin.
