Is It Possible To Recover Files Or Documents From A Hard Drive That Has Crashed?

A hacker took control over my machine, when I discovered his programs (toolkit) and confronted him of course he denied it, and the next day my hard drive crashed and everything was wiped and now won't even boot up.. I'm trying to recover a document he installed disguised as his resume that I know was his master file\rootkit. Is there anyway to recover it???

It depends on how throughly he trashed the disk.  Since he didn't physically destroy it there is a possibility it could be recovered but you'll need the help of someone with a great deal of expertise to get what you are looking for.

What this person did is a Federal felony.  If you call the FBI this person's life will be a whole lot different in the coming months.

I have recovered many hard drives in most cases the symptoms you describe indicate a trashed boot record. Often you can recover data by removing the drive an attach it to another computer via a usb to ide cable. They are all over the Internet. Here's just one:

If the problem is just the boot record you might be able to read the drive just fine. It should show up in explorer as the next drive in the chain. If C: Is your last drive the next will be D:. If the damage is greater you might need software such as "Nucleus Kernel FAT and NTFS". As a last resort you can send the drive to a service that will disassemble the drive and read the platters directly. One such company is Data Recovery Corp.
