What Will Happen To Your Truck If You Take It In Mud Holes All The Time?

My brother just bought a 4x4 pickup truck. He put very big tires on it and now he goes in mud all the time. Will this break his truck? What can go wrong if you drive too fast in the mud and get stuck?

Well first of all its a great time... Second if you are putting a vehicle under stress that it is not created (other than road use) it will wear things out a little faster such as ball joints... But if someone has the extra money for the wear and tear it can make for a really fun time.... I should know.

Yes, it will eventually break things especially if he beats on it. Axles could break, tie rods, exhaust could get ripped off. If this is mostly an on-road vehicle, it is not built to handle severe off road use. Yeah, you can have fun but most people especially younger people don't understand that you need to build your vehicle for the conditions you plan on putting it through. You can't buy a truck off the lot, slap big tires on it or put a lift kit on it and think its set up for mudding. There are thousands of dollars worth of modifications needed  to ensure it'll withstand the beating. You can't take big foot and go mudding. It'll only work for a short while. Going fast through mud holes is not a good idea. Depending on how deep the hole is, there could be something in there like a stump that'll put you through the widshield if you're not wearing a seat belt. If you're gonna go off road, take it slow and be safe not stupid and dead.

If you keep driving through mud over your axle housing in will get into your differentials you have vent tubes on top of each rearend .Muddy water will seep into your rear end and eventually start eating away at the bearings and gears. It would be a good idea to drain the rear ends and replace the gear oil after such a ride.
