What Do The Referees Do In Football ?

A referee is a person who presides over a game of association football. He has the full authority to enforce Laws of the football game on the match which is being played under his refereeship. His decisions about the play are final and binding on all. According to the Law 5 of football, following are the power and duties of a referee:
- enforce the laws of the game
- control the match with the assistant referees
- ensure that the ball used meets the requirements of Law 2
- ensure that players' equipment meets the requirements of law
- acts as timekeeper and record keeper of the match
- stop, suspend or terminate the match

The referee is there to make sure everything is done fair he is just like the police if you do something that breaks a rule he throws the yellow flag. Just as a cop would give you a ticket. Depending on how bad you broke the law the more yards taken away from you just as the price of a ticket goes higher.

Refrees are for smooth functioning of the game. To control player behaviour on field, by giving them Red and Yellow cards

They make sure the teams play by the rules.

The Referees have full authority according to the power and duties given to enforce the laws of the game/1-17/ and the un-writen law 18 from the start of the match till the end of the game.
