When Renting, What Is The Policy On Having Guests?

I rent a room and the owner does not stay in the house, he sent an email to me telling me that he doesnt allow over night guests, this is not stated in the rental agreement.

    You have every right to make them stay with you. There is no such law for guests. They can come at any time and it is your personal matter. Rental agreement is the key. You can remind the landlord about the agreement that he has no such right over you.
