Does The Lighting On A Fish Bowl Effect The Goldfish's Growth?

I have a Goldfish and am not home often, I am wondering if I should leave my fish in the light or dark.

    Fish need light just like anything else to grow. But you shouldn't keep it on for more than 6-8 hours a day, if you do you may start growing a lot of algae and that's not good

      NO.What does effect it's growth is it's aquarium size and it's nutritional intake.
