How Many Times Did World Cup Winner Emmanuel Petit Play For Arsenal In The League?

Born in Dieppe in France in September nineteen seventy, former world cup winner Emmanuel Petit played eighty five times for London club Arsenal after signing for the Gunners in nineteen seventy seven.

Current Arsenal manager and fellow Frenchmen Arsene Wenger signed Petit from French league one outfit AS Monaco in the late nineties, with Petit already an established club and international player.

As well as playing eighty five league games for the club, scoring eleven goals, Petit formed an impressive partnership with fellow countrymen Patrick Veira in the heart of the Arsenal midfield, which reaped immediate rewards, with Arsenal winning the league and FA cup double in the pair's first season.

In two thousand and with little over three years spent with the Highbury team, Petit headed to Spanish club Barcelona as part of the deal that took team mate Marc Overmars to the Catalan club.

Barely a year later Petie returned to London to play for Chelsea.
