Yes they can reproduce...i have raised chickens. i bought 100 at a time and about 4 roosters just came with the package. in fact, when your hen is of age to lay eggs...you don't need the rooster, your hen will lay un-fertile eggs, meaning, no matter how long you wait, they will never hatch. Then as long as you keep taking the eggs away, your hen will continue to lay eggs. When we wanted chicken dinner, the roosters were the first to go, oops, hope you're not talking about pet-chickens... :-)
I FORGOT, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP FULL FEEDERS OF OYSTER-SHELL FOR THEM. THEY NEED THAT TO PRODUCE A FIRM EGG SHELL. WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE OYSTER-SHELL, THE EGG MAY BREAK INSIDE OF THE HEN AND KILL HER...YOU NEED TO ALSO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ALL THE LAYING MASH THEY WANT...BOTH FEEDS ARE ESSENTIAL TO THIER HEALTH. YOU CAN GIVE THEM CRACKED CORN AS A TREAT, SOMETHING FOR THEM TO SCRATCH THE GROUND, THEY NEED TO EAT DIRT TO DIGEST THIER FOOD.
