How To Make A Simple Electric Motor?

Answer Question

    All that is needed to make a simple electric motor is

    1) One steel screw or nail with a flat head, about 3cm long.
    2) One neodymium magnet, disc shaped (approx 1cm diameter);
    3) One battery (1.5V)
    4)   And 15cms of flexible copper wire.

    Stick the disc magnet to the flat head of the screw (it's a magnet, so you don't need glue). Hold the battery in your hand in a vertical position and with a finger press one end of the wire to the top end of the battery (Positive or negative does not matter, it only changes the direction of the spin).

    Suspend the screw with the magnet attached to its head to the lower end of the battery. (The point of the screw should be in contact with the lower end of the battery and it will not fall away if the magnet is strong enough). Take the free end of the copper wire and touch it to the magnet. The screw along with the magnet will start spinning.

    Caution: The RPMs can go up to 10,000, so use common sense and wear safety glasses.
