What Is The Clwyd- Powys Archaeological Trust CPAT And What Does It Do?
Answers
CPAT covers the whole of central and North East Wales.
Thier website at www.cpat.org.uk is bilingual in Welsh and English and is very informative about what CPAT is. It is for everyone with an interest in the archaeological and historical environment .
CPAT is one of four Welsh archaeological trusts and 'helps to protect and interpret all aspects of the historic landscape for the whole of Wales'.
CPAT has undertaken a whole range of projects including the Clwyd Coastal Survey, Archaeology in the Forest, Hillforts, Churches and Old Houses to name but a few. The organisation has annual reports, newsletters Sites and Monuments Records for Clwyd and Powys which has recorded all known archaeological and heritage sites in these areas and links to other useful sites.
CPAT is of interest to archaeologists, historians, farmers, students, developers and anyone who is interested in this subject. They also hold a very large air photgraph collection as well as site archives .
