If you are unsure about the type of table you need the following points might prove helpful:
Dinning table. The most common table used in almost every household. Shapes include square, rectangle, oval and round. The rectangle provides maximum space.
Center and side table. This is usually a set of a tables comprising a center prices with two side tables of similar design .Coffee table the idea of a coffee table originated from the need for a place to keep a drink or a book while sitting on a sofa . coffee table are usually low in height and round or square.

Study table: used in a study for writing letters and reading .Although it resembles a writing desk, the dimensions and designs vary according to individual preferences.
Lamp table: this is almost always round and placed between two sofas/ armchairs to keep a lamp in between.
Tray table .These are designed with a removable top that can be used as tray. Occasional table used occasionally to provide extra space when required.
The most common shape for any table is square: however other shapes such as hexagonal ,oval ,rectangular , round or kidney can be designed. Besides wood, table are also made of brass , glass marble or wrought iron.
