We want to visit Spain and I can't work out if a fiance visa for my Sri Lanka partner - who now resides with me in the UK - will be considered favourably to get the visa.

Obtaining a Spanish visa will not be any more difficult than for other Sri Lankan passport holders. Their decision will be based primarily on your fiance's financial background.The problem, however, may be that UK fiance visas are usually not valid for multiple-entry into Britain. Some exceptions to this rule are made, but usually for family reasons. Since travelling to Spain would require you to travel to the Schengen Zone and then return to the UK (where passports are inspected), your fiance may not be permitted to re-enter, if the visa is not for multiple entry.
