This has been a matter of debate for a while now. Men opting for cosmetic surgery is, in a way, breaking the stereotype of the male that has been established over society over accumulated years. So when you hear that men actually opt for cosmetic surgery, a knee-jerk reaction among most men is 'Not all of them. There must be certain types of men who opt for stuff like that.'
However, it is now an established fact that there is, in fact, no stereotype of the male who opts for cosmetic surgery. A man who wants cosmetic surgery is not necessarily of a specific physical build or personality type. One common thing could be education, because that gives us an enhanced awareness of the world around us. However, even that is no longer a criterion.
The increase in the number of men wanting cosmetic surgery is based on the simple premise of wanting to look good, young, and healthy. You do not need a stereotype for that. Those are the aspirations of almost all of us, bar the fatalists who believe that the ways of nature have to run their course.
