Sometime around the year 79 BCE, Julius Caesar, who was then on the staff of a military legate, was awarded the oak leaves as a civic crown for saving the life of a citizen during the war. He was sent by the general on an embassy to Nicomedes. Nicomedes was the king of Bithynia to obtain a fleet of ships.

Caesar returned successful, but he soon became the subject of rumours about the fact that he persuaded Nicomedes, who was a homosexual, to hand over the fleet of ships to him only by agreeing to sleep with the king. He never denied his relationship with Nicomedes and was also severely criticised by Cicero and accused of sexual abuse by the poet Catullus and Caesar's own nephew Octavius (who later came to be known as Augustus). Curio the Elder, one of the prominent critics of Caesar, stated that Caesar was every wife's husband and every husband's wife.

"Every wife's husband and every husband's wife"

I laughed so hard.

And I highly suspect it is true, there was no taboo against homosexuality in Rome, in fact there was a social pressure to try it, and nobody thought that the young were innocent of any desire, and so it often happened to what we'd now consider children- from about 11 years onwards.

An example of how sexualized rome was- the word 'testes' comes from the roman law requiring two witnesses, and 'gladius', the sword, means 'penis'.

No he isn't. It was merely just a rumor made by his political rivals as homosexuality was considered taboo in ancient Rome. If you learn a lot about his life, you know that he had many affairs with women (womanizer) such as brutus's mother, Servilia Caepionis and Cleopatra VII of Egypt.

I wouldn't say he was "Gay" but he did sleep with woman and men, for fame. He'd do whatever it takes to make himself known. If you read up on him, then you would find that he was obsessed with himself being a god like figure.

Sure he was. He was being humiliated by his competitors for that in senate in Rome. Anyway, during this affair, he was only 19 or so.
