    A post code, postal code or ZIP code varies in all countries. Codes are letters or numbers which identify each and every area of the city. The post codes were invented in order to sort the mails and letters so that the mail office has easy sorting out the mail according to the areas of the city. Post codes are generally of five or more digits comprising of letters and numbers. In order to know your post code, you can visit your nearby post office. Post codes can also be of 10 or more digits depending upon the area. If the area is quite small and inside a county of a city, then the post code will be much bigger in order to completely identify the area.

    Post codes were first invented in Germany during the Second World War to ease out the mail procedures. Postal codes are supposed to be man's finest inventions as it makes the work much easier.
