Why Are Monkeys Required For Testing?
Answers
According to scientists, it is essential to test drugs and vaccines on non human primates in order to help fight major diseases. Diseases such as Aids/HIV and malaria are serious and scientists claim that future tests to be done on monkeys and other primates are needed if we are to save millions of humans in the future. Whether this is right or wrong it is sure to spark a huge debate as monkeys and apes are man's closest relative and can we ever rationalize the testing of another species just to benefit ourselves?
One thing is for certain, these new tests are going to happen and according to scientists they will really help to change our fate in years to come. They are supposed to also help to identify and understand brain diseases such as Parkinson's disease. There are other ways in which this research can be carried out without the use of animals. However, scientists say that it is necessary to use the monkeys.
