My Yorkie Is Pregnant And Pups Are Due 10-10-08 She Really Don't Like To Eat. What Should I Do?
This is her first litter and she was doing real good with eating up until about a week in a half ago and now she eats very little food I would like to know what to do to stimulate her appertite .

This dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian to make sure there is not a medical cause for her anorexia and that there is nothing wrong with the puppies. Many people will feed canned puppy food during pregnancy. Canned, puppy food has an increased calorie content per weight and is often more palatable to dogs. Please contact your veterinarian about appropriate pre-natal care and safe medications used to stimulate appetite in a pregnant dog.

I am glad you have an appointment and it sounds like you are going great--it was the right thing to switch her to puppy food. I do not recommend feeding canned food regularly but in this situation it may encourage her to eat. She needs calories to help those puppies grow! Good luck!
