Myths are mythological stories which had characters that lived in ancient times. The characters in legends, on the other hand, are relatively more contemporary. However, most people identify with both sets of characters.

Mythology is basically defined as a collection of stories about divine forms such as God, demons and infinite concepts such as the universe that have been handed down from generation to generation which have now become a part of our folklore. These mythological tales are open to different interpretations and are not falsehoods or figments of one's imagination (as in the imagination of a writer of fiction).

Man has always sought explanations and constantly questioned his existence. These explanations have more often than not come in the form of simple and interesting (but at the same time logical) stories. Most mythological stories do teach us a lesson or carry a moral which is relevant even in the present-day scenario.

A myth has no evidence of being true but a legend is a stretch of  the truth. It might be real it might be a myth.

Hey Purply..8) (you asked for tht ! LOL) thought id give you a good truthful answer so here it is...A legend is a semi-true story, which has been passed on from person-to-person and has important meaning or symbolism for the culture in which it originates. A legend usually includes an element of truth, or is based on historic facts, but with 'mythical qualities'. Legends usually involve heroic characters or fantastic places and often encompass the spiritual beliefs of the culture in which they originate. ...And ....A myth is a story based on tradition or legend, which has a deep symbolic meaning. A myth 'conveys a truth' to those who tell it and hear it, rather than necessarily recording a true event. Although some myths can be accounts of actual events, they have become transformed by symbolic meaning or shifted in time or place. Myths are often used to explain universal and local beginnings and involve supernatural beings. The great power of the meaning of these stories, to the culture in which they developed, is a major reason why they survive as long as they do - sometimes for thousands of years. Hope it helped based on my own knowledge so erm ..I think I'm right I'm pretty sure..I'm usually good at this stuff! XD

A myth iz something that might not be real but then might, and a legend iz somthing you did in the past that got you famous 4 it like if you were an all-time skateboarder, now you would b a legend 4 it. A myth iz, well not exactly sure, I think that a myth iz somthing like say someone tells you that aliens were spoted a few years ago, would you believe it...probably not see, not all myths r true... But then again...SOME ARE!:-}

Well, to be honest I'm not quite sure. There are both stories. Myths are beleived to be fake while legends are more on the real side. But you should ask an expert. I don't see why it's important anyways.
