What Do We Do Now That The House We Are Renting Is In Foreclosure?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Talk to your landlord to see if he/she is mitigating with an attorney to defend against foreclosure on the property. If the foreclosure process has begun and a date has been set for court, find out when the hearing will be and you will be able to attend the hearing so you will be aware of the outcome.

Depending on what state you are in, you may have tenant rights that can prevent the sale of the property without some type of stipulations to protect you.

If the property is foreclosed upon, it will be listed at the next available Sheriff Sale and sold, however there are many ways in which your landlord can prevent this from happening. Your landlord should keep you in the loop and let you know what is going on step by step so that you know what to expect.
