Does The Custodial Parent Have To Claim Her Child Support Now That She Is Receiving Social Security?

We pay900.00 a month child support. The mother is now remarried and they receive social security benefits. Does she have to claim the child support?

    No, they do not . Child support is not a income that can be taxed or claimed nor is something that can be garnished, child support however can be in question if there is proof of misappropriation ( ie. Purchasing a car , alcohol, tobacco,etc.) and further you can petition the court for a review of child support were you can then ask for proof of how child support is being spent ( ie. Receipts, child care expense reports, food, clothing,dr. Visits etc.) if you still are having issues contact your congressmen.
