How Do You Get Someone To Stop Smoking If They Are Older Than You?

You can sit down with your father and tell him that his smoking really bothers you and you do not want to see him unhealthy. Tell him about the dangers of lung cancer and other illnesses. Tell him that you love him very much and he needs to be healthy because you look up to him. Offer to help him quit. It will not happen over night. You will have to talk to him like this on a consistent basis.

Hey how about asking them to think about 'YOUR' health and wellbeing!  You are at risk as a passive smoker if they pollute the family enviroment.  By all means tell them you love them and want them around for a long time, but also ask them to respect you. Good luck with your quest to educate them.

Do emotional black-mailing.its like this.
If they take 10 cigerrates in a day, then ask them to reduce it to five (ask it as a gift for you or say that they have to do it to prove their love for you).
Then after they have been used to that 5 each day (i.e. After a few months), ask them to reduce it to two each day in the same process.
N this way it continues........
I know,it takes time but it really works, of course if, you are convincing enough and your parents love you............

You need to have an honest conversation with them about how you feel and how concerned you are for their health. Do whatever you can to help them break the habit.
