Where Is Vicksburg USA?

Vicksburg city is sited in the province of Mississippi, USA. It is in the Warren County. It is 234 miles from New Orleans found near the convergence of Mississippi and Yazoo rivers. Vicksburg is positioned at 32.20'10"N latitude and 90.52'31"W longitudes. The city covers an overall area of 91.3 sq Km. Over six Km of area is water.

In 1825, Vicksburg was formed from Walnut hills community. It derived its name from Newitt Vick, a Protestant minister. According to the 2000 census, it holds a population of 26,407 people.

It has a National Military Park. It is the place where American Civil War Battle of Vicksburg was fought from March 29 to July 4, 1863. The park covers areas of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Delta and also Louisiana. The Engineer Research and Development Centre (ERDC), Mississippi Valley Division and Vicksburg District have their headquarters at Vicksburg.
