Neutrophils - a process called phagocytosis in which they engulf the offending cell and destroys it with powerful enzymes.
Eosinophils - They defend against the larvae of parasitic worms and unicellular organisms and also may help with allergies
basophils - in response to specific allergens they expel histamines and other vasodilating agents. This does cause a reaction known as immediate hypersesitivity, and can result in hay fever, forms of asthma, and unfortunately anaphylactic shock.
Monocytes - becomes tissue which removes dead cell debris and also attacks organisms such as Tubercule Bacilli and some fungi.
Lymphocytes - constantly sampling the environment for foreign materials
