How Can I Decode A 98 Chevy Vin Number?
I am buying a 98 Chevy 1500 4x4 and it needs a motor. I need to know if it is a ls1 or a standard 5.7. If its a ls1 I will rebuild it with some goodies!

What do you need to know? Go to your local scrap yard and give them the vin number and they can do it for you or tell me the vin number and I can do it for you. The 10th digit is the year the car was made. www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com Or go to this site and it will tell you everything.
