Does A Hand Held Computer Use A Batch System?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes, a handheld computer indeed uses a portable batch system. A portable batch system is abbreviated as PBS. A portable batch system, or PBS, is defined as a computer software application which has been created for the purpose of scheduling jobs. The portable batch system allocates network resources to batch jobs. It schedules jobs to execute them on UNIX environments which are network and work on a multi-platform format.

The portable batch system was first developed for NASA by MRJ. It was developed between the early-1990 and the mid-1990. Viridian subsequently took over MRJ. The former was, in turn, taken over by Altair Engineering. Altair Engineering is the current commercial distributor of PBS Professional, which is commonly known as PBS Pro. Open PBS is the original open source version of the portable batch system which is unsupported.
