Is Candle Smoke Residue Considered Normal Wear And Tear?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

If your candles have made specific marks then I do not feel that is normal wear and tear.  You should be able to wash it off before handing over your tenancy.  If you leave it dirty then I feel the landlord is within his rights to charge you for cleaning.

Not if you are renting and you have not cleaned the smoke from places it should not be than the landlord has every right to charge you for having to clean it up....the best to you

All depends if it was excessive to the walls or not but remember the landlord must paint the walls between tenants regardless so hes trying to get you to pay for the paint
