What Does Nan Means?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word Nan has many uses and in the old form of English you can find its use as a word to represent the letter 'N'. But the world can also be used as a female name but not an independent one and used only as a short form of Nanny.

But these days the word is attributed only to a cuisine usually cooked in India. It is a kind of bread and is made of white flour and cooked in a tandoor. The bread is usually flat and leavened and usually eaten with butter spread over it. This use of the word can seek its origin in Farsi where the word is used for bread.

There are many other cuisines also that are becoming the part of the English dictionary. You can cite the example of 'Samosa' which is accepted as a part of the English dictionary.
