What're The Harmful Effects Of Smoking?

It is very important for people to know how dangerous smoking is. Every year thousands of people die as a result of smoking. Smoking also contributes to cancer which is another cause for the death of a large number of people.

Cigarettes consist of a mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide which can temporarily increase your heart rate and put strain on your heart and blood vessels. Heart attacks and strokes are very common in smokers. Smoking slows done blood flow to arms and legs resulting in sever damage to limbs.

Tar present in cigarette smoke coats the lungs which in long term can lead to cancer. Changing to low tar cigarettes has no effect as smokers then tend to larger puffs and in turn  drag the tar deeper into the lungs.

Carbon monoxide causes deficiency of oxygen to the muscles, brain, and other important tissues. This puts stress on your heart as it has to work harder and oxygen deficiency to organs can cause serious damage to them.

Diseases such as Emphysema (lung disease) and lung cancer also occur as a result of smoking.Smoking can also lead to bone loss and increase the risk of bone fracture especially if smoking is started from a very early age.

Lung Cancer, Emphysema are the two major effects from smoking.  Innocent people are also affected by second hand smoke.
