Lakposhtha hâm parvaz mikonand or Turtles Can Fly directed by Bahman Ghobadi an Iranian Director with Kurdish roots was in the year 2004 the first feature film to be shot in Iraq. It was selected as Iran's submission for the 2004 Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Film.

The Film is supposedly very well made, winning acclaims and kudos for its director and most of its child star cast. The film is an allegory or microcosm of Society in Iraq at large. The plot centers on the lives of refugee children on the Iraq-Turkish border. The main character is a 13-year old boy called Soran, also known as Satellite. The story depicts his status as the matriarch of the other refugee children, his search for an antenna to hear of the American Invasion and Saddams fall and also the challenge he faces to his alpha status by the arrival of a supposedly prescient Henkov. The beginning of the film shows a young girl jumping to her death in a void which in itself is an analogy of Iraq's grim future.
