    Institute of Business Administration Karachi is the first business school in Pakistan was opened with the aid from USAID.  Started as one of the affiliated schools of University of Karachi in early 1950's, it soon proved itself the breeding ground for producing excellent managers for the country.

    In its initial years it was affiliated with University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and professors from the school were deputed to teach and develop the indigenous group of faculty members on modern grounds to carry out the academic activities on their own. Initially started as a commerce school, it soon converted its focus to the business administration activities and started to steam line its curriculum and faculty on most modern practices prevalent in top business schools in the world.

    What made IBA distinguished from other institutes in the region is not only IBA is one of the oldest business schools in South Asia but it also set very tough and challenging criteria to admit the students. Admissions in IBA are still considered as one the toughest examination tests which students go through. Not only setting the highest standards for entry into the institute it has developed and modernized the field of business education in the region specially Pakistan but also produced one of the finest managers in the region
