Can My Son Get Married While In The County Jail In Modesto California?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is my understanding that it is the constitutional right of inmates to get married while they are incarcerated.  However, a wedding ceremony is not likely to happen.  Usually, they are married by proxy and legal forms need to be filled out and filed with the court clerk.  I'm sorry, I don't have any further details for you -- contact the Modesto court and ask for the clerk in charge of marriage certificates/licenses.

I think they can do it if a woman is actually stupid enough to marry someone in jail instead of finding a real man who can keep himself out of jail
