Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Great Migration is also called the Migration Period (or Migrations Period) or the Barbarian Invasions or Volkerwanderung. It was the name which was given by historians to a migration of human beings which took place in the continent of Europe within the period of four centuries, which was roughly between the year 300 AD and the year 700 AD.

In other words, it marked the transition from the Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages. The migration of human beings during the Great Migration included the migration of such tribes as the Goths, the Vandals, the Franks and other Germanic, Bulgar and Slavic tribes. The Great Migration was possibly triggered off by the attacks by the Huns, who were, in turn, connected to the migration of the Turkic tribes in the central part of the continent of Asia. It was also believed to be attributed to the pressures that were put on the population and the changes in the climatic conditions.
