Do I Need To Buy A Super Pocket Bike And Modify It To Take Part In A Race League?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

No. Competitive racing is available for all ages, experience and specifications of pocket bike, from 4.2 horsepower to 12 horsepower and more. A factory-prepared 6.2 horsepower pocket bike, for example, will easily hit 50 mph. But go up to the larger 12 horsepower plus models and you won't be reaching the red line until over 70 mph!

No matter the model of pocket bike you may have, pocket bike racing tracks are an excellent way to race against friends or competitively in a league structure. With no cars, no pedestrians or speed limits, it's a safe, legal and relatively light risk way to get an adrenalin rush.

The leagues potentially offer the chance of a step up to GP motorcycle racing. Due to their miniature size, pocket bikes are very responsive and magnify the need for lightning-speed reactions and high levels of skill and concentration from the rider. Subsequently, switching to racing a full-size Grand Prix motorcyle, the pocket bike rider enjoys what feels like slow-motion response and thinking times.
