The Service Engine Soon Light Is On. Can You Help?

Service engine soon light is on on my 2000 ford v6 mustang. The spark plugs are not old, the oil and filter has been changed recently, the air filter is changed, the trainee has been serviced , the gas cap is tight on there, the brake fluid is fine, sometimes it has trouble starting if it was sitting there long, could it be I need a new battery? There coolant over flows from the cap I don't know if I over filled it, the car runs a little warm but it is not over heating, could it be the thermostat?

It could be the thermostat, but it could be another problem.
First thing I would do is take it to a local auto parts store and have the computer scanned to see if there are any trouble codes. Which would be better and cheaper than throwing parts at it until you hit on the right one.
Most parts stores do not charge to scan your vehicle.
