Can Maintenance Just Come Into Your Apartment Without Your Knowledge?

My friend woke up hearing a door slam and went to check it out and her front door was unlocked and it appeared someone had been in her apartment. Someone started coming in and she ran to hold the door shut and was asking who it was. It was the maintenance main coming back in. He had been in her apartment working in her bathroom while she was in bed asleep and the bathroom is off of her bedroom! Can they just have free reign to her home? What if she slept in the nude?

The landlord or any body doesn't have any right to come in unless he informs the tenant in advance. Everyone has privacy and it is against the law. She should talk to landlord and you should change the door locks.
