Just for clarification, Santa Barbara is referring to a female, not a male. In Spanish, Santa is the feminine saint, which is why you always see it followed by a female name (Santa Monica, Santa Ynez, etc.). When referring to a male saint, the masculine saint would be used, which is San. Then, of course, a male name would follow (San Francisco, San Jose, etc.).
