How Much Notice Must You Give When Leaving A Job?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Two weeks notice is the most common when leaving most jobs, but if you have paid vacation time as a benefit on your particular job, you'd want to give the amount of paid vacation per year, as you would give notice if leaving the job.  If you have only one week of paid vacation, give one week of notice prior to leaving, same with 2 weeks, 3 or however many.  If you don't get any paid vacation time, there may not be an actual requirement to give notice, however, if you want a good referral or reference in this circumstance, you could just ask your employer or human resources office, what the best amount of notice is that they would like to have, and be honest about wanting a good reference also.  Hope this helps you.
