How Do I Fix My Tv That Turns On And Off By Itself And Changes Channels By Itself?

My tv is an rca, and is less than a year old. It turns on and off, then scrolls through all the channels, stopping occasionally. I am not pressing any buttons to make this happen, it is doing it all on it's own.

My TV did this for a while and it would seriously freak me out to hear voices in the living room in the middle of the night! And yes for a while i thought it was haunted even!

BUT after experimenting with it, i realized that somehow i had put on the auto channel finder when the TV is turned on, and the sleep mode was set to auto on. So it would turn on at relatively times i turned it on or off throughout the day in the am.

Check your settings some of the newer (and even older) tv's have options for a sleep mode or alarm mode that will turn your TV on. Also the scrolling through channels others have automatic channel finders that will sift through the channels to check connection and such. :)
