An imaginary line going through centre part of the earth known as equator equally divides earth in to two parts. Northern part of equator is known as Northern hemisphere and southern part of equator is known as southern hemisphere. In my knowledge there is no eastern or western hemispheres.

An imginary line that divides the earth in to east and west is Prime Meridian. Eastern side of prime meridian is known as Eastern Hemisphere and western side of prime meridian is known as Western Hemisphere. Eastern Hemisphere has more land.
