To reach space, that is escaping Earth's gravitational field and reaching a zero gravity position we are required to travel at velocities up to 11.37 Km/s. This velocity is called escape velocity and is required to cross the intervening layer of atmosphere and the influence of Gravity. So, it takes almost 13.22 minutes to do so.
